I mentioned in a previous blog that one of the things I help clients navigate when they are on their journey of change, is the reactions of people around them. Sometimes, they can be supportive but, it’s pretty much guaranteed that there will be people in their lives who will be critical, disruptive, and quite judgemental. Unfortunately, this is to be expected.
The trap that we can all fall into is to try and convince those unsupportive people that this new path we are on is the right one. The thing is, people who are not on your journey may never understand why you are making the changes you are making.
And that’s just it.
They aren’t meant to because it’s not their journey. It’s yours.
What to keep in mind is that while you are putting your energy into trying to get them to understand and accept the new choices you are making, you are depleting the energy you need to keep you focused and keep you moving in your new direction.
My advice is to maintain your focus and energy on where it is most needed – on your journey, on your goals, and on your dreams.
